Happy “after Christmas, but before New Year’s” friends! We’ve entered the time between holidays where I’m not sure if it’s too early to take down Christmas decorations, if wearing anything other than PJ’s is socially acceptable, and I’m generally feeling like I should be doing something, but am not entirely sure WHAT!?
I have couple of kid’s projects I’ve been wanting to do with my boys during their Christmas break, and these days where the weather is too cold to be outside for long, seems like the perfect time to try them!
There is not a craze for Disney princesses at my house since I live in a home fulls of boys, (except our dog, Daisy!), but we love a good Disney movie, nonetheless!! The movie Frozen still remains one of the “hits” in our family due to that cuddly little guy, Olaf! I mean, who doesn’t love a warm hug from a silly snowman?!
To honor this funny little guy, I came across a Pinterest recipe I knew we had to try! I’ve named it “Olaf’s Warm Hug in a Mug” and here is the recipe I tweaked a bit to make my own version:
- 1 1/2 Cups Milk
- 2 Tsp. Sugar
- 1 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla
- Blue and Green Food Coloring
- Sparkling Sugar
- Whipped Cream
Pour milk into a saucepan and warm over low heat. Add the sugar and a drop or two of blue and green food coloring until you’ve reached the perfect “Frozen” blue color. Stir intermittently to keep a film from forming on the milk. After a few minutes, add the vanilla. Heat until bubbly, but not a rolling boil, so you don’t scorch the milk. Pour immediately into a mug and top with whipped cream! I added some blue sparkling sugar for a final touch. (To make the sugar blue, put a couple tablespoons in a baggie with a drop of blue food coloring and “toss” around until the sugar is blue color).
*These quantities will make approximately one serving, and can be adjusted up or down, to taste.
The perfect warm drink for a cold Winter’s day! You’ll have to let me know if you decide to try this one!!
Happy New Year, friends!
